Change in sight for the next Alpine Ski World Cup season. For the first time since the winter of 2009-2010, the calendar will not include a single parallel slalom event. The discipline is losing momentum. The only individual race planned last season had to be canceled due to bad weather. As for the team event, contested at the PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Winter Games, it was removed from the program for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games by decision of the IOC. Another change: the introduction of a new event, the team combined. It will be contested for the first time during the men's World Cup stage in Kitzbühel, Austria, in January 2024. Each nation will present two skiers, one for the speed event, the other for the slalom. On the other hand, the individual handset disappears from the landscape. Present at the Winter Games since Calgary in 1988, he has not competed in the World Cup over the last three seasons.
