The bobsleigh track impresses

Milan-Cortina 2026

Work continues in Italy on the construction of the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games. They seem to be progressing very well. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) reports that an inspection was carried out at the end of May by a team of experts, including the Italian government commissioner, architect Fabio Massimo Saldini. Obviously, he was seduced by what he was able to see, even if the inspection was limited to the first 15 meters of the track. “It is an excellent bobsleigh, skeleton and luge track, an architectural gem. It will be a great Olympic Games”, he suggested, quoted by the IBSF. The president of the body, the Italian Ivo Ferriani, was also present for this visit to Cortina d'Ampezzo. He too declared himself impressed: “The interaction between our technicians and the construction company, aligned with our requirements, allowed us to refine some technical improvements, and I am satisfied with the willingness to learn to find the best way to work together (...). The inspection of the track site, despite the tight schedule, showed a quality of work which makes me think that, thanks to the collaboration between all those involved, we can achieve the set objective on time. » Next step: a meeting between the stakeholders and the construction company to define in detail the technical elements of the first curve of the track.
