The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has decided… not yet to make a decision on the question of a return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Like another body of the Olympic movement, World Aquatics (formerly FINA), it chose to wait before adopting a clear-cut position. The president of the Russian Gymnastics Federation, Vasily Titov, told the agency CASS: « The International Gymnastics Federation cannot agree at this stage on the criteria for athlete neutrality, so it has been decided to postpone discussions on the issue until the next executive committee meeting in July . » The Russian and Belarusian question was on the agenda of the last FIG meeting, organized last weekend in Turkey. In the absence of a decision, gymnasts from the two countries in conflict with Ukraine therefore remain excluded from international competitions. They compromise their chances of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Games.
