The Poles agree

European Games

End of the series. The organizers of the 2023 European Games in Krakow and the government have put an end to their conflict over the distribution of expenses linked to the continental event. According to the Polish press, the mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, and the Polish deputy prime minister, Jacek Sasin, have reached an agreement. The threat of Krakow being removed from the 2023 European Games map, brandished in recent months by Jacek Majchrowski, would therefore be definitively lifted. The mayor of the capital of Małopolska (Lesser Poland) announced that he could give up hosting the event if the authorities of the region and the country did not support it, particularly for the competition infrastructures. Financial matters appear to have been resolved during a meeting between the two parties. At the same time, the Polish government announced the upcoming promulgation of a law intended to facilitate preparation for the event. The third European Games are scheduled for June 21 to July 3, 2023.
