After several days of testing, the Eugenio Monti sliding center received the long-awaited pre-approval on Friday. Sixty bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge athletes raced down the track in Cortina under the watchful eye of experts from the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF). The result was conclusive. "We all know that the reconstruction schedule was very tight and ambitious, but Simico did a remarkable job, welcomes the president of the IBSF, Ivo Ferriani. We have successfully completed the pre-homologation tests that are part of the homologation process. Small adjustments remain to be made and the focus must remain on completion of construction work. The feedback we received from our technical experts, coaches and athletes on site this week has been very positive." The final delivery of the site, where the roof and facilities adjacent to the track remain to be completed, is scheduled for November 5. A few weeks before the Games, the track will host a World Cup stage for a full-scale rehearsal.
