The Beijing 2022 Winter Games will not be the only event reserved for Chinese residents. The organizing committee of the Beijing Marathon confirmed, Sunday October 3, that the event could well take place this year, after the cancellation for health reasons of the 2020 edition. But the race will be prohibited to non-resident foreigners in China. It will take place on October 31, 2021. Around 30.000 participants will be expected at the start in Tian’anmen Square. The finish will be judged in the Olympic Forest Park. Only permanent residents of Beijing aged 20 and over can participate this year. They will need to demonstrate that they have resided in the capital for at least 21 days before the date of the competition, and register their state of health online every day for these three weeks. As a bonus, they must present before departure a green health code on their health application, a negative PCR test dating back 72 hours or less, plus a vaccination certificate. Several elite Chinese athletes, but not residents of Beijing, will be invited, but they will have to live in a health bubble until the end of the competition.
