The news surprised no one: the 2020 edition of SportAccord is canceled. It was to take place from April 19 to 24 in Lausanne. The organizers made the announcement on Saturday March 14 via a press release, explaining that they had been forced to abandon the convention after the decision of the authorities of the canton of Vaud to cancel all events bringing together at least 50 people. SportAccord 2020 was expected to attract around 2.000 delegates from all over the world to Switzerland. The event was initially planned for Beijing, from April 19 to 24, but it was relocated to Lausanne due to the coronavirus epidemic. The next edition of SportAccord will take place from May 23 to 28, 2021 in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
