The International Cycling Union feels at home in Abu Dhabi. Like last year, it will hold its annual World Cycling Gala there. An evening organized, as in 2015, by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the United Arab Emirates Cycling Federation, in collaboration with RCS Sport. The event will take place on October 18, 2016, two days before the start of the Abu Dhabi Tour (October 20 to 23), a four-stage race, and a few hours after the presentation of the 2017 Tour de France route. Trophies will be awarded to athletes who have distinguished themselves during the season within the framework, in particular, of the UCI World Tour, its women's version, the three Grand Tours of the season and the UCI Worlds.
