Christophe De Kepper, the Director General of the IOC, confirmed this on Thursday October 20 before the general assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC): the body aims to award the organization of the Winter Games in 2030 during the 140th session, scheduled for October 2023 in Mumbai, India. The dialogue continues with three cities: Sapporo, Salt Lake City and Vancouver. The selection committee for the future host city of the Winter Games, chaired by Romanian Octavian Morariu, is currently looking into the feasibility studies of the three applicants. It must meet in November to possibly propose to the executive commission a preferred candidate, the only one invited to continue the so-called “targeted” dialogue with the Olympic body. On the Summer Games side, Christophe De Kepper explained to ANOC that the IOC was discussing with ten cities from four continents.
