Time to take stock for World Athletics. The international athletics body took advantage of its Council meeting on Wednesday July 31 in Paris to approve its annual accounts. First lesson: revenues from television rights fell in 2023, reaching $46,3 million, compared to $48,7 million the previous year. But this slight drop was offset by other revenues, including those from RusAF, Kenya and the Label Road Race program. Result, income “ generally stable », at $54,2 million. On the expenditure side, the “Grant for Growth” program, dedicated to the development of member federations, benefited from an increase of 76%. Ultimately, total spending remained stable between 2022 and 2023, at $70 million. World Athletics also announces that it has added one million dollars to the prize money distributed to athletes during the world championships, financial aid which now reaches $12 million every two years.
