Romanian Gabriela Szabo, Olympic 5000m champion in 2000 in Sydney, is entering politics. At 38, the former athlete will be a candidate in the European elections on May 24. She was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports in Romania last March and sits on the Council of the European Athletics Association.
