Less than two months before D-Day, the campaign for the presidency of AIBA is well underway. As proof, the announcement made by Suleyman Mikayilov (photo above), the first candidate to have officially announced his intentions. Azeri has decided to recruit an independent agency, Global Sports Investigations (GSI), to support it in its desire to reform the AIBA on the decisive issues of integrity and governance. Suleyman Mikayilov's campaign team will work with GSI, currently headed by Richard Caborn, the former British sports minister. “ As IOC President Mr. Bach recently reiterated the importance of governance reform in boxing, I believe it is vital for the future of our sport to take this step, explains Suleyman Mikayilov. JIf we believe in good governance, it will inevitably lead to a more sustainable and efficient organization of boxing. This is why I contacted GSI and Mr. Caborn. We desperately need to move forward on these issues. » The AIBA presidential election is scheduled to be held on December 12 and 13, 2020 in virtual mode.
