The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has made its choice. She awarded the Australian Jimmy Spithill, winner of the America's Cup with the American team Oracle Team USA in September 2013, the title of "Sailor of the Year" 2014. The Brazilians Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, 49erFX world champions, were rewarded among the women. The awards were presented during a ceremony in Palma de Mallorca (Spain). “I accept this award on behalf of the entire Oracle Team USA team,” commented Jimmy Spithill. It is recognition of the efforts made by the entire crew as well as by the architects, engineers and supporters, up to Larry Ellison (Oracle boss, editor’s note) and Russell Coutts (sports director, editor’s note).”
