The Swiss Olympic Committee has announced the appointment of Lenka Kölliker, President of Swiss Curling, as co-president of the Swiss 2038 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games AssociationShe replaces Urs Lehmann, who has chosen to leave his post to become executive director of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).
Lenka Kölliker commented: “ Thanks to the exclusivity granted by the IOC, Switzerland is the only country in discussion until 2027 for the 2038 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is a unique opportunity but alsoa great responsibility to be able to develop such a project which brings the entire country together around an event that goes far beyond sport. I am very pleased to be working with co-president Ruth Wipfli Steinegger and the entire committee, as well as with CEO Frédéric Favre, who have already accomplished a high-quality job. »
The other co-chair, Ruth Wipfli Steinegger, said: " Lenka Kölliker will make use of her experience as president of a sports federation as well as its vast professional skills in the economic field, so that the work continues successfully within the established framework. » Tamara Wolf, Vice President of Swiss Ski, was also elected to the committee, replacing Urs Lehmann.
