The Congress of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation is approaching. It will be held on June 11, in Belgrade (Serbia), with a major electoral stake: The position of president and 18 seats on the Council will be up for election.The Federation received 28 applicationsThese applications will be reviewed by the Nominations and Remuneration Committee. Two dates to remember: the application files of all candidates will be published on the FIS website on April 22, and the list of eligible candidates will be released on May 20.
The FIS Council, meeting last Wednesday, also approved the idea of create a new member category — “Affiliated organization” — to allow the FIS to establish official relationships with groups and organizations active in the fields of skiing and snowboarding, as well as with strategic partners. The Congress will have to decide on this principle in June. It will also examine the requests from Guinea-Bissau and Belize aiming to move from associate member status to full member status, as well as that of India, which hopes to be reintegrated as a full member.
