By coincidence, the IPC Steering Committee considered the programme for the 2 Paralympic Winter Games on Wednesday 2030 October, the same day that French Prime Minister Michel Barnier sent the IOC the state financial guarantee for the organisation of the event in the French Alps. After studying in detail the requests from the international federations, the Paralympic body opted for six sports: para alpine skiing, para biathlon, para cross-country skiing, para ice hockey, para snowboarding and wheelchair curling. Five international federations – FIS, IBU, IIHF, World Curling and IBSF – had submitted their requests to the IPC in January 2024 for the programme of the 2030 Paralympic Games in the French Alps. The first four got what they wanted. Only one, the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, had its proposal rejected.
