Shamil Tarpishchev extended

IOC

The IOC Executive Board, meeting this week in Lausanne, announced that it will submit to the session next March in Greece the re-election of ten members of the body, the extension of the mandate of another, and the change of status of the last two. In the first car, ten members elected or re-elected in 2017, arriving next year at the end of their eight-year mandate, will be proposed for re-election for eight additional years. Among this group of ten, a Russian leader, Shamil Tarpishchev (photo above), individual member, elected for the first time in 1994. He therefore takes another eight years. The other nine are Princess Nora of Liechtenstein, Singaporean Ser Mian Ng, Burundian Lydia Nsekera, Spaniard Juan Antonio Samaranch (presidential candidate), Palauan Baklai Temengil, Norwegian Kristin Kloster, Thai KhunyingPatama Leeswadtrakul, Frenchman Jean-Christophe Rolland, Belgian Ingmar De Vos. In addition, Greek Spyros Capralos, an individual member elected in 2019, who will reach the age limit of 70 at the end of 2025, is proposed for a four-year extension. Finally, two other members, Tunisian Mehrez Boussayene and Chilean Neven Ilic will change status. The former will give up his status as a member linked to his position as president of the Tunisian National Olympic Committee to become an individual member, a less fragile seat. The same goes for Neven Ilic, who owes his presence within the Olympic body to his position as president of Panam Sports.
