Seven elected to the IWGA Athletes' Commission

World Games

The new face of the International World Games Association (IWGA) Athletes' Commission is taking shape. Seven athletes have been elected to to serve until 2029 on the sidelines of the Chengdu World Games. The elected officials are Xiaoxiao Lai (China, wushu), Sandra Sánchez (Spain, karate), Petra Senánszky (Hungary, underwater sports), Catherine Phillips (Australia, flying disc), Andrea Busa (Hungary, kickboxing), Yves Martial Tadissi (Hungary, karate) and Max Poschart (Germany, underwater sports). With five representatives, Europe is present in force. Five of the seven elected officials are also women.

In accordance with the IWGA Constitution, one or two additional members may be appointed by President José Perurena in order to ensure the representativeness of the commission in terms of gender, sport and geography. From this perspective, logic would dictate that a representative of the American continent be integrated – perhaps Andrés Acuña (Costa Rica racquetball) or Eric Kindler (United States, fistball), who were among the twenty candidates.
