The American Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) is playing the stability card. Four years before the Los Angeles 2028 Games, it announces that it has extended the contract of its general director, Sarah Hirshland (photo above), by five years. She will remain in charge at least until 2029. The decision was announced by the new president of the USOPC, Gene Sykes, former director general of the Los Angeles 2024 (then 2028) bid, future member of the IOC (he will join the Olympic body next month at the Paris session). Former commercial director of the American Golf Association, Sarah Hirshland joined the USOPC in August 2018, in the midst of the Larry Nassar affair. Not the easiest time to take charge, but the American largely contributed to overcoming the crisis.
