It was expected: Salt Lake City will come in force for the IOC session, Wednesday July 24 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, where the Winter Games in 2034 must be awarded to the capital of Utah. In force and in number. There will in fact be around a hundred people leaving Salt Lake City on July 22 to reach France. The official delegation will number 21 people. But there will be only seven of them to speak to the members of the IOC at the time of the presentation of the candidacy, a 30-minute sequence followed by a possible question-and-answer session. The Gang of Seven will include Utah Governor Spencer Cox; Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall; U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee President Gene Sykes; SLC-UT 2034 Bid Committee Chair Fraser Bullock; SLC-UT 2034 Board of Directors President Catherine Raney Norman; former athletes Lindsey Vonn (alpine skiing) and Dani Aravich (para Nordic skiing). The American delegation will take the stage at the end of the morning, around 11:00 a.m., just after the French Alps 2030 team. The two presentations will be immediately followed by the formal vote of the IOC members. In both cases, the result is already known.
