Have the games already been decided? Present this week in Los Angeles for the visit of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Summer Games in 2028, the President of the American Olympic Committee (USOPC), Susanne Lyons, spoke to the media about the question of Salt's candidacy Lake City at the Winter Games. Surprise: she confided without tongue in cheek that the American project would be much better suited for the 2034 edition of the Olympic and Paralympic meeting. “ For marketing reasons in particular, it is more complicated to organize two editions of the Games close to each other., explained Susanne Lyons in reference to a scenario where Salt Lake City would follow Los Angeles 2028 by two years. We therefore indicated to the IOC our preference for 2034“. The message is clear: the Americans have not yet officially given up on the 2030 option, but they are leaning more and more clearly towards the next one. The battle for the 2030 Winter Games could therefore soon come down to a duel between Sapporo and Vancouver, or even a single rider from the Japanese city, the Canadians having not yet definitively decided whether to enter the race. But Susanne Lyons recognized it: “ As we have made clear to the IOC, if they need us in 2030, we will find a way to do it. We are very keen to find the year that best suits all interested parties"
