Twelve days later the presentation of its organizing committee, Salt Lake City 2034 unveiled the composition of its steering committee.This brings together a wide range of personalities from the world of sport, business and local politics, who will have the role of advise the executive board of OCOG. “The Steering Committee will play a vital role in the years leading up to 2034. It allows us to benefit from a broad range of expertise and perspectives on many topics that will be essential to our success”, said Fraser Bullock, executive chairman of the organizing committee. Of the 28 members of the steering committee, eight athletes were appointed, all with ties to Utah, including two-time Olympic ski champion Ted Ligety, 2022 Olympic figure skating champion Nathan Chen, multiple Paralympic medalist Chris Waddell and 2002 Paralympic cross-country skiing champion Tanja Kari.
The OCOG also announced the creation of four committees to work optimally. Athletes commission, led by former skater Catherine Raney Norman, is part of it. The system will be completed by the host communities committee, chaired by Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, sports and venues committee, with Colin Hilton, President of the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation, and finally the committee for technology and innovation, led by Matthew Prince, co-founder of web giant Cloudflare. Fraser Bullock announced that additional committees will be created in the future to meet different needs.
