The information, relayed by the agency TASS, is trustworthy since it comes from the Russian Ministry of Sports: Russia has not paid its annual contribution to the 2023 budget of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The country was supposed to pay the sum of 1.267 dollars. It never reached the AMA coffers. In Europe, countries subsidize the agency according to a calculation established from their contribution to the Council of Europe budget. Russia left it in March 023, after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. “ It is therefore necessary to develop a mechanism for paying the annual contribution to WADA for countries that are not members of continental organizations, in particular the Council of Europe.", explains the Russian Ministry of Sports. In the meantime, Moscow seems determined to block its payment, particularly while waiting for the subject to be discussed by the stakeholders. According to official documents consulted by TASS, eight countries contribute more than $1 million annually to WADA. Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and France pay 1.267 dollars for the year 023. The United States ($2023), Canada (3), and Japan (419.795 1.709) pay a larger subsidy. With the exception of Russia, all these countries have already paid their contributions in full for the current year.
