Record in sight at the Rio Games

Algeria

Mustapha Berraf, the president of the Algerian Olympic committee, can rub his hands: the country's delegation to the Rio Games in 2016 could be the largest in history. The manager announced it at the end of the year during an official meeting: no less than 38 athletes already have their tickets for the next Summer Games, including 10 in athletics. “We can think that our team will have at least 70 athletes in Rio,” assured Mustapha Berraf. Algeria's largest participation in the Summer Games dates back to Athens in 2004, with 61 representatives. But there were only 38 in London in 2012.
