Presidential visit

Algeria

After Tunisia, Algeria for Thomas Bach. On an official visit to the Maghreb, the IOC President stopped off in Algiers, accompanied in particular by Lassana Palenfo, the president of ANOCA, and Mustapha Larfaoui, honorary member of the Olympic organization. A visit where athletes played a major role. Algeria plans to send a delegation of 70 athletes to the Rio 2016 Games, twice as many as in London. A progression to be attributed to the strategic plan put in place by the Algerian Olympic committee, notably around the identification and training of young talents, the development of an Olympic school program or even the systematic inclusion of women in decision-making meetings of the Olympic committee. During his visit, Thomas Bach spoke with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal. He also laid the foundation stone of the Algiers Olympic Museum and Academy.
