It’s time for innovation for the International Cycling Union (UCI). As proof, the arrival in the landscape of a new discipline: BMX Freestyle Park. The first edition of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup will take place in 2016. It will be held as part of the FISE World Series, the International Extreme Sports Festival. It will have at least three rounds (four from the following year) which will take place between February and December. And it will serve as a springboard for the first UCI urban cycling world championships, planned for 2017. The event would include BMX Freestyle Park, mountain bike cross-country Eliminator (XCE) and trials. In BMX Freestyle Park, competitors are judged on the figures performed over the entire course (difficulty, originality, style), to be performed within a time limit.
