And two. Frenchman Pierre Trochet (photo above) was re-elected on Saturday, December 7 in Lausanne for a second – and final – four-year term as president of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). He was the only one in the running. The election was held during the 26th congress of the body, organized in Lausanne. The former player based in Austria, aged 38, was first elected in 2021. His first term will remain historic for the discipline, since it was marked by the entry of flag football into the Los Angeles 2028 Games as an additional sport. During the same period, the IFAF also obtained associate member status in the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), and full member status in the International World Games Association (IWGA). "Flag football's debut at LA28 will inspire millions around the world, but it's just the beginning, explained Pierre Trochet after his re-election. We are committed to ensuring the long-term inclusion of our sport in the Olympic Games, expanding our presence in multi-sport events and strengthening our role as an influential member of the Olympic movement as a whole.” The Lausanne congress was also marked by a renewal of the IFAF executive board, with the election of Canadian James Mullin as vice-president.
