After Thomas Bach, Ng Ser Miang. Singapore's leader became the second candidate to announce his candidacy for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee. Ser Miang was elected a member of the IOC in 1998,  then he became vice-president in 2009. He was a member of the Financial Commission, the Audit Committee, the Bid Evaluation Commission for the Olympic Games of 2012, as well as the Beijing and London Games Coordination Commission. Ng Ser Miang was also the head of the organizing committee for the first Youth Olympic Games which took place in Singapore in 2010. Apart from his career at the IOC, Ng Ser Miang served as vice-president of the Federation sailing international and was Singapore's ambassador to Hungary and Norway. The deadline for submitting candidacies to succeed Jacques Rogge has been set for June 10, for an election in September 2013 in Buenos Aires.
