New York, Texas and California want to resume

United States

Things are getting complicated in American sport. At a time when the professional leagues are urging caution by postponing their decision for a possible resumption of play, several states are openly calling for speeding up. The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo (photo above), encouraged the franchises in his state to resume their activity, even without the presence of the public in the stands. “ Hockey, basketball, baseball, football, whoever can reopen, but we are ready to collaborate, he explained Monday May 18 at a press conference. I believe it is in the best interests of the people and the state of New York. » The same day, but a little later, the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, followed suit by announcing that professional sport could resume, behind closed doors, during the first week of June at the earliest. The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, specified in a press release that certain professional sports could resume from May 31. The only problem, but a major one: the professional leagues are currently refusing to resume the course or the start of the season. The NBA wants to give itself time before announcing a date. As for the NFL, it has postponed the possible reopening of training centers until May 29.
