Patience. According to the agency TASS, the hearing of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concerning the alleged doping case of young Russian skater Kamila Valieva (photo above) should be postponed. In agreement with all parties involved – the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and the International Skating Union (ISU) – it will not be held at the time initially planned, namely on August 2023, but at a later date as yet undetermined. “ The exchange of documents is underway, specified the CAS press service. All parties have agreed to extend the usual deadlines for this phase of the procedure. The date of the hearing will be determined later, once the lists of witnesses and experts have been filed. But the hearing is unlikely to take place before August 2023. » Last April, the court based in Lausanne announced that the appeals of WADA, RUSADA and the ISU concerning the Valieva affair had been grouped into a single procedure. The likely postponement of the hearing, and by extension the CAS verdict, also postpones the IOC's decision regarding the awarding of medals for the figure skating team event at the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, won by Russia before the revelation of a case of alleged doping by Kamila Valieva.
