NBC starts strong

Paris 2024

The NBCUniversal group can rub its hands: the Paris 2024 Games are off to a strong start in the United States. Mark Adams, the IOC spokesperson, explained on Sunday July 28 at a press conference that the opening ceremony, broadcast live on NBC, had been the most watched since that of London in 2012. It attracted 26,8 million viewers on the American channel, a result up 60% compared to the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Games. The success of the first evening of the Games was even more spectacular on the group's digital platforms, with traffic six times higher than that recorded three years earlier in Japan. Same success in Germany, where the channel ARD recorded an audience of 10,1 million viewers, the highest for an Olympic session in twenty years.
