The Executive Committee of the International Modern Pentathlon Union has made its choice. The UIPM is establishing a commission dedicated to obstacle jumping, and its composition is now official. Ian Adamson, founding president of the International Obstacle Sports Federation (FISO) will be its president. This is a way to ensure that the interests of the obstacle will be preserved within the UIPM, with the dissolution of FISOand that the discipline can continue to develop.
« I am proud to chair the UIPM's "obstacle" commission, commented the Australian. The integration of obstacle course racing and ninja-style competitions into the Olympic Movement, alongside modern pentathlon, which boasts a rich century-long history, opens up exciting new perspectives for participants, spectators and viewers at all levels. »
The commission will be completed by James Burton (Great Britain), Jennifer Miller (United States), Precious Que (Philippines) and Stefano Zappa (Italy). This commission is composed of experts in their respective disciplines, all determined to strengthen the Union across our entire multi-sport portfolio. I look forward to seeing what this commission will achieve. " said Rob Stull, president of the UIPM, welcoming " a new and important step towards the full integration of obstacle sports under the aegis of the UIPM ».
