End of interim period for Martin Gibbs. The Franco-British, former chief of staff and then general director of the International Cycling Union (UCI), was confirmed as general director of SportAccord. He therefore settles more permanently in the seat left vacant last October by Nils Hatt, in place for a decade. His appointment, after a two-month interim, comes as part of a reorganization of SportAccord, decided since the decision taken last November to dissolve the World Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). With Martin Gibbs at the helm, SportAccord is currently working to reintegrate certain activities, responsibilities and employees of GAISF, whose dissolution is supervised by an external service provider, Ernst & Young. The new statutes are being drafted. Finally, a new membership commission must oversee the application process for international federations to join the Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport (AIMS). As a reminder, the new organization of SportAccord, imposed by the dissolution of GAISF, plans to grant membership status to the Association of International Sports Federations recognized by the IOC (ARISF) and to AIMS. They will join the Association of Summer Olympic International Sports Federations (ASOIF), and that of the International Winter Olympic Sports Federations (AIOWF).
