A page is turning at the International Rowing Federation (World Rowing). Matt Smith (pictured above, left), its executive director for a quarter of a century, will step down at the end of the year. But the Lausanne-based body has already found a replacement for him. She announces the recruitment of Swiss Vincent Gaillard (right in the photo) from January 1, 2022. Matt Smith joined the organization in 1992, a time when it was still called FISA, as director of development. Three years later, he had moved up the hierarchy to become executive director. His successor, Vincent Gaillard, worked in particular with the NBA, Coca-Cola and FIFA. He also served as CEO of GAISF and EPCR. No change in sight, however, at the presidency of World Rowing. Jean-Christophe Rolland (in the center of the photo), elected for the first time in September 2013, will be reappointed on November 6 for a third term. The Frenchman is in fact the only candidate in the running for the post of president.
