Macron supports a French project for 2034

Winter games

A French candidacy for the Winter Games in 2034? The road still seems long. It looks very uncertain. But the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur region project, announced at the start of the year by its president, Renaud Muselier, can already count on the support of Emmanuel Macron. The Head of State took advantage of the ceremony awarding the Legion of Honor to the Olympic and Paralympic medalists of the Beijing 2022 Games, Tuesday March 29 at the Elysée, to discuss the subject. “ Today, dear Christian, several communities including the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur region are considering applying to host the Winter Olympics in 2034, obviously I tell you all my support“, launched Emmanuel Macron to the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi. The person concerned did not expect it, but this presidential support reinforces his desire to prepare a file for the Southern Alps for the Games in 2034, or even in 2038. Christian Estrosi discussed it last week with Brigitte Henriques, the President of the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF). But he recognizes that he must bring together all the forces of the region and the massifs concerned in order to complete the file, before submitting it more formally to the CNOSF.
