Nicolas de Tavernost, the boss of M6, makes no secret of it: his channel will examine “with interest” the next call for tenders from the French Tennis Federation (FFT) for the broadcasting rights to the Roland-Garros tournament. “Everything interests us, it’s a question of price and profitability,” he explained, referring in particular to the Paris tournament, the rights to which are owned by France Télévisions over the period 2010-2013. The FFT has control over this call for tenders which also interests the Qatari pay channel BeInSport. The public group would currently pay 16 million euros per year to the FFT for the right to broadcast this competition, which represents 6,9% of the turnover of Roland-Garros.
