The people of Utah fully support the project of a new bid by its capital, Salt Lake City, for the Winter Games. According to a survey carried out among 600 people between November 14 and 21, 2017, no less than 89% of respondents said they were in favor of an Olympic candidacy. A result which could turn out to be even higher if a new opinion survey was conducted during the next Winter Games in PyeongChang, assures Jeff Robbins, the president of the Utah sports commission, also at the head of the study group on a Salt Lake City bid for the 2030 Games. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has launched a procedure to select a candidate city for the Winter Games in 2030, but without ruling out the possibility of launching in the race for the 2026 edition. Salt Lake City organized the Winter Olympics in 2002.
