Modern pentathlon is looking upwards. The UIPM has announced a increase in prize money for the World Championships, with the support of the Swiss watchmaker RAM, one of its sponsors. For the first time, the first six in the men's and women's events will receive a check, similar to what was already done during the World Cup final.
“Pentathletes are the most versatile athletes in the world and their effort, their commitment to innovation in our sport deserve more recognition and rewards, justifies Rob Stull, president of the UIPM. We are on an exciting trajectory now with a new format that will wow the world at the Los Angeles Olympics. It is important that athletes feel the benefits of commercial growth and that they benefit from the evolution of the sporting challenge." The World Championships will take place in Kaunas (Lithuania) this summer, from August 26 to 30.
