The UCI responds to A.S.O

UCI

It was to be expected: the International Cycling Union (UCI) did not remain without reaction after the decision of the A.S.O group to slam the door on the World Tour in 2017. The UCI published a press release the following day of the French group's announcement, where it reaffirms its position. “The reform of men's professional road cycling, which will ensure a reasonable and gradual evolution of this important part of our sport, was approved by the Professional Cycling Council (CCP) in June and ratified by the UCI Management Committee in September, writes the world cycling institution. It was developed through two years of very open and in-depth dialogue and consultation among a group of diverse stakeholders, including race organizers, teams and riders. The reform will provide greater stability for everyone, and allow our sport to develop over time while preserving the interests of existing stakeholders. The UCI remains determined to implement the reforms that were approved as part of this extensive consultation process, which it believes takes into consideration in a balanced manner the interests of all stakeholders involved in professional cycling. »
