UCI remains loyal to Shimano

Cycling

It's a rolling affair. The International Cycling Union (UCI) and Shimano have officially extended their partnership until 2028. An obvious fact for both parties, linked since 1999. Shimano will thus have the status of “Main Partner” of the 2027 World Championships,"which will bring together in Haute-Savoie (France) around twenty separate UCI World Championships". The Japanese component manufacturer will not be idle since it will also have the role of « Official UCI Neutral Service Partner on the UCI World Championships in road cycling and paracycling, mountain biking (Olympic cross-country, cross-country short track and downhill), marathon mountain biking, BMX Racing, urban cycling, cyclo-cross and gravel, but also on the 2027 UCI World Cycling Championships ». David Lappartient, UCI President, was pleased to be able to continue this collaboration: "We are pleased to renew the close and long-standing partnership between the UCI and Shimano, the world leader in bicycle components. Being able to count on a partner of this magnitude represents an enormous asset for our Federation and our sport, not only for the influence of our major events, but also for the development of cycling in countries that need help so that more of their riders reach the top level." As part of the renewal of its neutral fleet, Shimano delivered 19 bikes, which were intended to help riders during their first life, and 23 pairs of wheels to the UCI headquarters in December. This equipment was then shipped to South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago and South Korea in order to continue the development of cycling in these territories.
