UCI presents the format of the eSport Cycling World Championships

The finals of the fifth edition of the eSport Cycling World Championships will take place in Abu Dhabi on November 15The International Cycling Union and its partner MyWhoosh have unveiled the details of the event. The qualification process will begin soon (date to be confirmed) and will continue until October. Seventy percent of the available places for the semi-final will be allocated via qualifications organized by the National Federations who will appoint their respective representatives. The remaining 30% will be allocated duringpublic qualifying events organized by MyWhoosh ", explains the FI in a press release.

In the semi-finals (October 3), The riders will compete in three races entitled "Sprinters' Paradise" (eight laps of a 1,5 km circuit with a sprint awarding points on each lap), "Punchers' Playground" (12 km with short steep climbs) and "Last Rider Standing!" (an elimination race contested on a 7,2 km climb with an elevation gain of 554 meters). points accumulated on these three events will determine the 40 finalists (20 men, 20 women). The same format will be applied in the final. Note that athletes who have obtained a wild card will also be able to line up in the final.
