The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is moving towards parity. Its president, the American David Haggerty, announced it himself on Monday November 6: the 2023 edition of the Billie Jean King Cup, which begins this Tuesday in Seville (until Sunday November 12), will be marked by a record amount of $9,6 million in prize money. It will be distributed among the twelve qualified countries, with a jackpot of $2,4 million for the victorious nation. With this increase in prize money, the ITF is bringing the women's competition back to the same level as the men's Davis Cup. “ We are proud to announce this news on the eve of the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Finals, said David Haggerty. Gender parity in our sport is a key part of the ITF’s “Benefit for All” agenda. I am delighted that we were able to offer prizes equivalent to those of the Davis Cup Final"
