While the NFL is buzzing to the rhythm of the playoffs, the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) is expanding its team. Lars Carlsen has just been appointed as Sports Manager, with the mission of continuing the development of tackle and flag football, which will appear for the first time as an additional sport to the Olympic Games in 2028. He made a reputation for himself within the Danish American Football Association, where he served as coach, athletic director and finally CEO. He also worked with the national flag football team. “I am honored to join IFAF at such an exciting time”, explains Carlsen. Pierre Trochet, president of IFAF, believes that "Lars' appointment represents a major step forward" for the federation: “His unparalleled experience and commitment to the sport will be invaluable as we navigate this period of growth and opportunity. Lars will play a central role in building a sustainable future for American football globally.” Flag football is growing rapidly and is played by over 20 million players in 100 countries around the world, according to IFAF.
