The ICF loses its general secretary

Canoe

A page is turning at the International Canoe-Kayak Federation (ICF). The body announces the upcoming departure of its secretary general, the Briton Simon Toulson, who has chosen to resign. Having worked at the IOC, then Formula 1 and Manchester United, Simon Poulson was the general secretary of the ICF for 15 years. He will leave his position in April 2022, after ensuring the transition until the recruitment of a new position holder. Simon Toulson has accompanied the ICF to four Olympic Games, two Paralympic Games, three Youth Olympic Games, more than a hundred World Cups and world championships. He notably supervised the start of para canoeing and the addition of a new discipline, extreme slalom, to the Paris 2024 Games. Anything but a coincidence: the Briton's resignation comes just a few months after the election of a new president of the ICF, the German Thomas Konietzko, successor to the Spaniard José Perurena.
