The IBA and World Boxing continue to trade blows. The first announced in a press release that it had accepted the Dutch Boxing Federation, a new entity recently created in the Netherlands, as a provisional member. This is anything but anecdotal, since World Boxing's president, Boris van der Vorst, is Dutch. The permanent membership of the new boxing body in the Netherlands will be put to a vote at the next IBA congress. "We started to thinking after the Paris Olympics, trying to find the best approach to deliver a good program to high-level athletes, justifies the secretary general of the Dutch Federation, Jan Deijkers. The IBA is the largest international boxing federation, but it is also the organization that offers the best events. The IBA schedule is, if you look at their championships, the best option for boxers in order to get the most out of their careers.” Dutch female boxers will be able to compete in the next World Championships in Niš, Serbia, from March 8 to 16. In early February, World Boxing had approved four new membership applications, bringing the number of its members to 72.
