Lamine Diack is currently making a very notable visit to Japan. The IAAF President took advantage of a press conference in the Asian capital to wish good luck to the organizers of the Tokyo Games in 2020. Above all, he expressed his wish that the World Athletics Championships in 2021 would take place in Japan. “If it is possible, I would like Japan to organize the World Cup,” said the Senegalese leader. Tokyo had at one time considered a bid for the world championships in 2019, before ultimately giving up and focusing on the 2020 Games.
