WADA has chosen its independent observers

WADA

A little over a month before the opening of the Paris 2024 Games, the World Anti-Doping Agency is putting the finishing touches to its system. It revealed the composition of its teams of independent observers, for the Olympic Games and then for the Paralympics. As a reminder, the anti-doping program at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be managed by the International Testing Agency (ITA) on behalf of the IOC. At the Paralympic Games, it will be the responsibility of the IPC. For the first of two events, WADA's independent observer team will include Darren Mullaly (Australia), Head of International Relations, Strategic Policy and Intelligence, Sport Integrity Australia (Chair); Dan-Thanh Tran (Canada), WADA Head of Controls Compliance (Vice Chair); Françoise Dagouret (Switzerland), WADA testing manager; Maira Bakasheva (Kazakhstan), director of the Kazakhstan Anti-Doping Center; Iñaki Gomez (Canada), two-time Olympian (race walking) and member of the WADA Sports Council; Vinicius Sardela (Brazil), WADA Senior Laboratory Operations Manager. For the Paralympic Games, it will be composed of Diego Grippo (Argentina), president of the Comisión Nacional Antidoping Argentina (president); Valentin Capelli (France), responsible for relations with the WADA sports movement (vice-president); Patrick O'Leary (Ireland), two-time Paralympian (para canoe) and member of the WADA Athlete's Council; Rym Zerifi (Tunisia), executive director of the North African Regional Anti-Doping Organization; Seena Omar Hatugay, Secretary General of the West Asian Regional Anti-Doping Organization.
