Lalovic in an armchair

SPORTACCORD

D – 3 in Bangkok before the opening on Sunday April 15 of the 17th edition of SportAccord, organized at the Centara Grand & Convention Centre. An Asian edition which will begin, as often, with a meeting of the Council of the Association of International Summer Olympic Sports Federations (ASOIF). The organization chaired by the Italian Francesco Ricci Bitti will meet again two days later, Tuesday April 17, but this time in full force, for its annual general meeting. On the agenda for the day, the question of the governance of international federations, still relevant; a report from the organizing committees of the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Games and the Tokyo 2020 Games; a presentation from WADA; a revision of the ASOIF statutes; and finally the election of a new member of the Council of the Association. The election promises to be unsurprising. It should be a formality for Nenad Lalovic. The Serbian leader, president of the International Wrestling Federation, is the only candidate for the post. He was elected by his peers last February to succeed the Taiwanese CK Wu, former president of the AIBA, to the IOC Executive Board as representative of the ASOIF. At SportAccord, Tuesday April 17, Nenad Lalovic should be appointed without the slightest suspense to replace the same CK Wu on the Council.
