The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) held its 27thGeneral Assembly in Cascais, in Portugal, from October 28 to November 1, 2024. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of current and future projects, and to present the ANOC Awards to the athletes and national Olympic committees who shone at the Paris 2024 Games. Stimulating for the sporting world, but not only. This general assembly had a considerable economic, media and social impact, according to a report by Quantum. Its direct economic impact is estimated at 2,47 million euros. More than 4.500 overnight stays were generated in the Cascais and Lisbon region. More than 1000 people attended the event, where 195 NOCs were represented, "which further strengthens Cascais' position as an international destination for major events", notes ANOC. 76% of participants said they would be likely or very likely to return to Cascais in the future for a holiday after this experience. The report also highlights the extent of global media coverage, "with 42 hours of broadcast on various platforms" and 103 million people affected, generating "an estimated media value of 5,6 million euros". The next ANOC General Assembly will take place in Hong Kong in 2026.
