Kosmos puts away its balls

Tennis

End clap for the Kosmos group. Spanish media Okdiario announces that the company founded by former football player Gerard Piqué (photo above) has closed its tennis subsidiaries, Kosmos Tennis and Kosmos Management. They represented several professional players, including Borna Coric, Daria Kasatkina, Andrey Rublev and Elina Svitolina. The Austrian Dominic Thiem, the first big name to sign with Kosmos, preceded the movement by turning his back on the Spanish group at the start of the year. Last January, Kosmos' spectacular breakthrough in professional tennis had already suffered a serious setback with the announcement by the international federation (ITF) of the termination of his contract. It had been signed a little less than five years earlier for a period of twenty-five years, for the record sum of 3 billion dollars. Under its terms, the ITF transferred the rights to the Davis Cup to Kosmos, for a thorough overhaul of its format.
